The sheriff of Eau Claire County has outlined plans to allocate their recent funding grant for opioid-related initiatives.
Eau Claire County’s sheriff’s office announced on the previous day that they had been awarded a $350,000 grant from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.
This funding will be directed towards two key initiatives: the installation of medication drop boxes and educational programs for jail personnel.
The primary objective of this initiative is to establish a peer-to-peer support network within the county.
The goal is to divert individuals towards appropriate assistance rather than resorting to incarceration, thereby focusing on rehabilitation and treatment for those affected by opioid-related issues.
