The Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office is warning of the latest scam to hit the area.
In this case, scammers are calling their targets, posing as a representative from the Sheriff’s Department, and claiming they missed a court date.
They then demand you post bond, or you will be arrested.
The Department is reminding residents that they will never call you to inform you of anything court-related, but rather will do so in person.
They will also never send money or bitcoin requests over the phone.
If you ever receive a phone call that makes you suspicious, it is suggested that you hang up and call the actual entity back on a certified phone number, and then report the scam to the police.
