A group home in Milwaukee is set to shutter its doors following the arrest of a staff member for assaulting a resident, along with a history of ongoing complaints.
The announcement was made by Alderman Mark Borkowski during a statement issued last night, focusing on Milwaukee’s Helping Hands adult family home.
The decision to close the facility was prompted by a disturbing incident in July, when neighbors captured on video the abusive actions of staff members toward a nonverbal autistic resident.
This evidence led to a subsequent investigation, resulting in the former caregiver at the home being charged over the weekend for the deliberate mistreatment of a patient.
Additionally, the home disclosed yesterday that its license and certification had been revoked by the state.
