The Manitowoc Police Department received some help from a biker organization to catch a man who was trying to meet up with a minor for sex.
Officers were sent to Lincoln Park at around 6:30 Monday evening after being contacted by the organization known as Bikers Against Predators.
They had text conversations between a 36-year-old man and someone he believed to be a 13-year-old girl.
When police arrived, they looked over the evidence and determined it was enough to take the man into custody.
The messages clearly stated that the “girl” he was talking to was 13 and that he intended to meet her to engage in sexual acts.
While being interviewed by police, the man admitted to knowing she was 13 but claimed that he was at the park to confirm her age, and if she was underage, he planned on leaving.
The suspect was booked on charges of Exposing a Child to Harmful Material, Using a Computer to Facilitate a Child Sex Crime, Child Enticement, and Attempted 2nd Degree Sexual Assault of a Child Under 16 Years Old.
