The woman who confessed to food stamp fraud on Judge Judy’s “Judy Justice” TV show is now slated to stand trial in Milwaukee.
A judge made the decision on Friday, concluding that there is sufficient evidence to proceed with a case against Katrina Weems, aged 41.
Weems faces charges related to the unlawful sale of her FoodShare benefits, a confession she made during her appearance on the television program.
Weems and her associate, Java’la Elam, had appeared on the show as part of a different case.
It was during this appearance that they openly discussed their involvement in the illegal sale of food stamps.
State investigators took notice of this revelation, leading to both women facing felony charges.
Elam failed to appear for her scheduled court date last month, resulting in the issuance of a felony warrant for her arrest.
