An inmate at the Oshkosh Drug Abuse Correctional Center escaped over the weekend but was caught within an hour.
According to the Oshkosh Police Department, the inmate, identified as 33-year-old Brian S. Esser, was able to escape the facility at 4280 Sherman Road at around 12:30 Sunday morning.
Oshkosh Police, along with the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department and police from Appleton and Kaukauna, began searching the area, and located Esser near the intersection of Highways 76 and 41 just before 1:30 a.m.
Esser was previously convicted on charges of Taking and Driving a Vehicle without the Owner’s Consent, Fleeing or Eluding an Officer, Possession of Cocaine, a Narcotic Drug, and Methamphetamine, and Bail Jumping.
How exactly Esser escaped was not revealed.
