A Green Bay man has been arrested after he allegedly attempted to entice a 13-year-old runaway from Hawaii.
According to police reports, a special agent investigating the trafficking and exploitation of children at a military installation in Hawaii began posing as a teen girl on Reddit.
The agent would post that “she” wanted to run away, a post which was responded to by 44-year-old Steven Baye.
The two would continue to chat back and forth, with Baye sending explicit photos of both himself and a young girl.
Detectives were able to link the Reddit account to Baye, and the U.S. Marshals Office arrested him on Monday.
Baye claimed he thought the interaction was a role-playing game, and authorities found numerous photos on his phone of girls, all of whom were clothed.
He has been charged with Child Enticement for Sexual Contact and had his bond set at $10,000 cash.
