In a move that signals discontent within the Republican ranks, a group of five state representatives has taken steps to initiate the impeachment process against Meagan Wolfe, who formerly served as the administrator of the Wisconsin Elections Commission.
The lawmakers officially filed articles of impeachment yesterday, citing alleged failures to adhere to existing laws as their primary motivation.
Additionally, they argue that this action is aimed at safeguarding taxpayer funds from potential legal repercussions arising from the Wisconsin Senate’s efforts to terminate Wolfe from her position.
Leading this impeachment effort is State Representative Janelle Brandtjen, a vocal critic of Wolfe’s tenure.
The outcome of this impeachment endeavor remains uncertain, as it hinges on Assembly Speaker Robin Vos’s decision to forward the impeachment proposal to a committee, a step that has not been taken as of yet.
