Congressman Mark Pocan of Madison is calling on his counterpart from western Wisconsin, Congressman Derek Van Orden, to issue an apology for an incident involving his alleged confrontation with Capitol Hill interns during the summer.
In a statement made yesterday, Democratic Congressman Pocan expressed strong disapproval of a video showing Van Orden raising his voice at Capitol Hill interns.
Pocan characterized the incident as troubling and pointed out that Van Orden appeared to take a bow after berating the interns for taking photographs inside the Capitol Rotunda in July.
In response, Congressman Van Orden defended his actions, stating that he had admonished the young individuals due to their perceived lack of respect for the Capitol building.
Despite mounting pressure, Van Orden has steadfastly refused to issue an apology over the past few months, dismissing the entire incident as a non-issue.
