A Soldiers Grove man is admitting to paying someone in Indonesia to torture a monkey on video.
On Friday, 40-year-old Kenneth Herrera pleaded guilty to federal charges stemming from his connection to the footage.
Herrera has admitted to compensating a person with $100 to record themselves inflicting harm on a young macaque.
Additionally, he provided explicit instructions on how he wanted the torture to be carried out, as per officials’ reports.
When he faces sentencing in December, Herrera may potentially be sentenced to a maximum of seven years in prison for his actions.
