Starting next week, abortion services at Planned Parenthood clinics in Milwaukee and Madison will resume after a judge ruled that an old law from 1849, which seemed to prohibit the procedure, did not apply to it.
However, the lawsuit against the state law will continue in county court, and the case is expected to eventually reach the Wisconsin Supreme Court, which recently shifted to liberal control.
As of now, abortion clinics across the state have stopped providing the service since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in June 2022.
