Falls have emerged as a prominent and concerning cause of injury and fatalities in the state of Wisconsin.
According to data from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, emergency medical services were dispatched to address over 130,000 fall-related incidents across the state last year, marking it as the most frequently reported type of injury.
This represents a significant 22% increase compared to the figures recorded in 2019.
The state health department underscores the importance of taking preventive measures to mitigate this growing issue.
Simple strategies such as installing grab bars in bathrooms and removing potential trip hazards from walkways can significantly reduce the risk of fatal falls, offering a tangible way to address this pressing public health concern.
