A recent survey has revealed that a majority of Milwaukee County residents are hesitant about using taxpayer funds for the renovation and maintenance of the Brewers’ ballpark.
The poll, conducted by the non-profit organization Milwaukee Works, was released yesterday on the UPFRONT platform.
According to the findings, 56 percent of individuals within the county are opposed to having taxpayers foot the bill for upgrades and ongoing maintenance at American Family Field.
Public sentiment shifted when pollsters presented an alternative scenario involving state funding.
Approximately 60 percent of those who initially opposed the use of taxpayer dollars for the ballpark indicated they would be open to the idea if it did not solely rely on Milwaukee County’s financial contributions.
Under the current proposal, the plan is to utilize tax revenue generated by the ballplayers themselves to cover the required $400 million investment in American Family Field’s future upkeep.
