A Racine residence was called a house of horrors when three children were found living in squalor.
Now, even more details have been disclosed.
According to a report from Racine County’s Human Services Department, investigators made the grim discovery of deceased dogs in an advanced state of decomposition inside the house, disturbingly close to the sleeping quarters of the children.
Additionally, instead of a functioning toilet, slop buckets were found within the residence.
In response to these findings, prosecutors are moving forward with neglect charges against two individuals, 38-year-old Sandra Lemke and 39-year-old Steven Burdo.
Both are scheduled to appear in court for a hearing later this week
