A bill aimed at helping Wisconsin veterans has cleared the Assembly Committee on Colleges and Universities.
The bill, written by Senator Andre Jacque of De Pere and Assemblyman James Edming of Glen Flora, would remove barriers to higher education for veterans.
The measure passed the committee on a unanimous vote, showing the strong, bipartisan support it has in Madison.
Sen. Jacque noted the importance of the bill, saying “By encouraging our veterans to attend college in Wisconsin, it increases the likelihood that they stay in our state after they complete their education and help fill our state’s workforce needs.”
The measure (Assembly Bill 91) now heads for a vote in the full Assembly.
