The City of Green Bay is investing $1.6 million into a new safe walk and bike plan.
This program, which is a collaboration between the city and the Green Bay Area School District, hopes to help boost pedestrian safety, especially as school is now back in session.
$1.3 million for the project comes from the school district as a part of the referendum passed last election, while the remaining $300,000 comes from funds received through the American Rescue Plan Act.
New and improved safety features will be installed at numerous crosswalks around the city, with a big focus on busy intersections near schools.
A majority of the improvements are expected to be completed this fall, with the entire project scheduled to be done by the end of next summer.
