Two individuals tragically lost their lives due to drowning at Lipsett Lake in the remote town of Rusk, located in far northwestern Wisconsin.
The victims have been identified as 18-year-olds Grace Rhine and Kyree Schaw, hailing from Blaine, Minnesota.
The incident occurred when Rhine and Schaw ventured into the waters of Lipsett Lake for a swimming outing.
The duo encountered an unexpected turn of events as they slipped beneath the surface of the lake, ultimately succumbing to the powerful aquatic forces.
Authorities from the Burnett County Sheriff’s Office swiftly responded to the emergency, shedding light on the challenging conditions that contributed to this tragic incident.
High winds and turbulent waters, characterized by choppy waves, are believed to have played a significant role in the unfortunate drownings.
Amidst the chaos, a third individual received timely assistance and was subsequently treated before being released.
While the immediate response team has concluded its initial actions, the Burnett County Sheriff’s Office has emphasized that the investigation remains an active and ongoing endeavor.
