Several times a year, local police departments report seeing an uptick in thefts from vehicles.
That is once again the case in Sheboygan, as the Sheboygan Police Department says that several such thefts occurred across several neighborhoods as of late.
As is usually the case, nearly every incident included a vehicle with keys left in it or that was left running and unattended.
The police department is reminding motorists to lock up their cars and to remove any valuable items.
These crimes tend to be opportunistic, as many times thieves will try the car door, and if it is locked, or if there is nothing visibly worth taking, they will move on.
Additionally, as we reported last week, boaters are being advised to remove valuable items from their vessels, as the Manitowoc Police Department has seen a rise in thefts from boats parked in the marina.
