The City of Manitowoc is being ordered to enter into a new agreement with the Manitowoc Area Visitor and Convention Bureau.
That order came from a judge Wednesday after the MAVCB filed a lawsuit against the City and the Room Tax Commission, claiming the ending of their previous contract was illegal.
The MAVCB, which was joined in the suit by The Hearty Olive and the Wisconsin Association of Convention and Visitor Bureaus, claimed that Visit Manitowoc, Manitowoc’s new tourism department, did not meet state requirements.
The Cities of Manitowoc and Two Rivers ended their contract with the Visitor and Convention Bureau at the end of 2021, and the lawsuit was filed in December of last year.
