A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family of the Two Rivers drowning victim.
The yet unnamed 12-year-old was swimming in Lake Michigan at Nashotah Beach Saturday when he disappeared under the water.
Rescue crews from multiple agencies arrived on the scene and found him about half a mile away from where he went under the water.
He was quickly taken to Aurora Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
In the post, the uncle of the young man stated “Our nephew was enjoying his summer vacation before school starts, but unfortunately, an accident had occurred. It is a nightmare for any parents to lose their child…We are absolutely devastated by our nephew’s passing and his family is struggling to find the funds to cover the cost of the service.”
