An ATM at a bank in the Village of Howard is being linked to a nationwide spree of thefts.
The Brown County Sheriff’s Office reports that deputies were sent to an ATM located at the Nicolet Bank at 2380 Duck Creek Parkway in Howard at around 1:30 this morning.
They noticed that the unit was damaged, and a look through nearby surveillance cameras identified two suspect vehicles.
One was found abandoned, but another was pulled over a short time later.
The driver was taken into custody without incident, while a search began for the driver of the other vehicle.
Drones and K9s were utilized, and the search continues.
That being said, the public is not believed to be in any danger.
This case is believed to be the work of the Hook & Chain Gan, which has been hitting ATMs across the country.
No additional information is being released at this time as it is an active investigation.
Anyone with any information on the case is encouraged to call SGT Jody Breider at 920-448-4227.
