Eastern Wisconsin’s representative in the State Assembly tells us he is working on a pair of mental health bills.
Rep. Paul Tittl tells Seehafer News that the first is to get a tax incentive in place for psychiatrists, while the second would implement an interstate compact for social workers.
Tittl explained, “if they are licensed in another state, they can now come to Wisconsin…and their license will transfer automatically.”
Tittl noted that the state has had issues with licensing in the past, which has led to a shortage of social workers.
“We are looking at…trying to get more people in Wisconsin to be practicing because the number one issue is not getting access to mental health services,” the Manitowoc legislator noted.
This program would follow suit with prior initiatives created for nurses, physicians, and psychologists.
