A man from Eau Claire is currently in custody with a bail set at $2 million following his alleged confession to fatally assaulting his wife using a bottle of alcohol.

Investigators reveal that after committing the act, Berthold attempted to end his own life, but his son intervened and prevented it from happening.
Prosecutors underline that during questioning, Berthold accepted complete responsibility for his wife’s death and expressed a willingness to repeat the act if given the chance.
