Following a verdict handed down by a judge in Hennepin County, a resident of the Twin Cities has been directed to undergo civil commitment.
The recent pronouncement pertains to Alec Cook, a 27-year-old alumnus of Edina High School.
The judge’s ruling, announced last Friday, follows Cook’s prior conviction for the sexual assault of three women during his time as a student at the University of Wisconsin back in 2018, resulting in a three-year imprisonment.
In his official decision, Judge Michael Brown highlighted that Cook’s participation in sex offender rehabilitation programs has shown only marginal advancements and that he still presents a significant risk of engaging in further offenses.
