Two local semi-pro football teams are continuing their drive toward a championship today (August 12th).
The Manitowoc County Mariners will be traveling to Chicago to battle the Illinois Cowboys in the semifinal round of the Northern Lights Football League playoffs.
The Mariners advanced thanks to a 19-8 win over the Brown County Blackjacks last weekend.
Tonight’s contest will be held at Hales Franciscan High School with kickoff scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
Meanwhile, the Sheboygan County SaberCats and Midwest Renegades will battle for the Midwest United Football League Championship tonight in Joliet Illinois.
The SaberCats toppled The Show last Saturday 24-20 at Lakeland University. The game will begin at 7:15 p.m. at Joliet Memorial Stadium.
This is the third year of the league, and the third time the SaberCats have been in the championship game.
They brought home the title in year one and came up short last season.
