The third iteration of a bill named after a Mishicot man has been signed into law.
Dillon’s Law 3.0, which was co-authored by Senator Andre Jacque and Representative Shae Sortwell, further expands the availability of epinephrine auto-injectors for individuals having a life-threatening allergic reaction.
The measure and its two previous iterations are named after Dillon Mueller, who died from an allergic reaction to a bee sting in 2014.
Ever since, his parents, Angel and George Mueller have been trying to teach people about the importance of having an epinephrine auto-injector.
This version enables pharmacists across Wisconsin to dispense epinephrine without a patient-specific prescription order by clarifying that any trained individual can use them without having their own prescription.
The Muellers are also trying to get a version of Dillon’s Law passed at the federal level, which would incentivize states across the nation to implement Dillon’s Law.
