A police officer in Neenah was involved in a shooting and the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation.
According to Sheboygan County Sheriff Cory Roeseler, the Lake Winnebago MEG Unit was attempting to arrest a 37-year-old man in the 500 block of Commercial Street in the City of Neenah just before 5:00 p.m. Wednesday.
The man was said to be at a gas station when confronted by police, which is when they say he displayed a weapon.
The officers responded with the use of deadly force. As is protocol, an outside agency was called to conduct a transparent, impartial investigation, and in this case, the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office got the call.
Sheriff Roeseler said in a news release, “This an ongoing investigation, and details are still being developed as it relates to this investigation…There will be more information relating to this investigation later Thursday, August 3.”
