A Milwaukee police officer is in recovery following a multi-vehicle crash that occurred yesterday morning at the intersection of 35th and North.
The incident, involving two cars and an MCTS city bus, took place just before 11:30 a.m.
According to the MPD’s preliminary investigation, the crash was triggered when a driver recklessly ran a red light, colliding with another car.
The impact caused the second car to hit an MCTS bus that was also at the intersection.
Meanwhile, the car that ran the red light collided with a police officer riding his motorcycle.
As a result of the collision, the police officer sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was promptly transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
The bus driver and the bus’ sole passenger were also taken to the hospital for precautionary checks, although their injuries were reported to be non-life threatening as well.
Following the incident, law enforcement took swift action, arresting the driver responsible for running the red light and causing the chain reaction of crashes.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident is ongoing, and authorities are working to gather all the necessary evidence.
