Peter J. Breivogel, age 81 of Manitowoc, WI passed away with his family by his side at Rivers Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center in Manitowoc on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, due to complications from strokes.
He was born July 17, 1942, in Two Rivers, WI to the late Henry and Marjorie (Peterson) Breivogel. He graduated from Two Rivers High School in 1961. After high school, he joined the U.S. Army and served as a supply specialist in Korea and Germany.
After returning from the service, he went to work for his aunt and uncle training and boarding dogs at their kennel in Princeton, NJ. After returning home, he built houses. He then worked as a plant operator at the Manitowoc Waste Water Treatment Plant until his retirement.
Peter married Mary L. Vollendorf on June 19, 1971, at First Presbyterian Church, Manitowoc.
Peter had a variety of hobbies included fishing, hunting and woodworking. He loved making different things for family and friends. He meticulously cared for his yard. He enjoyed smoking fish and other wild game and was known to enjoy a Manhattan or two.
Survivors include his wife, Mary, Manitowoc; son, John (Mary), Francis Creek; daughter, Heidi (Nick) Boksa, Lithia, FL. Three grandchildren: Jack Breivogel, Lauren & Summer Boksa; sister, Sally (Glenn) Rodewald, Manitowoc; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob and Deanne Vollendorf; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Marjorie Breivogel and his golden retrievers, Duke, Hans, Duchess and Lucy.
A Life Celebration Social will be held for relatives and friends on Friday, August 4, 2023 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 North Water Street, Manitowoc, located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Military honors will conclude the Life Celebration Social at 3 p.m. by the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #731. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel.
