The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers had a great week of baseball last week as they took four out of six games from the Division-leading Cedar Rapids Kernels.
The two teams had to complete Friday’s suspended game Saturday and played their regularly scheduled game, which they split.
Then, Sunday, the Rattlers scattered 10 hits and allowed only 2 in a 4-0 win.
Second baseman Jose Acosta did the majority of the offensive damage with a three-run homer over the right field wall in the 4th inning with Hendry Mendez knocking in the 4th run the next inning.
Edwin Jiminez had a stellar night on the mound, pitching 7 and one-third innings, allowing just 1 hit while striking out 10 batters.
Shane Smith came on to close out the contest and picked up where Jiminez left off.
He struck out 1 batter and allowed one hit to secure the win for the Rattlers. Wisconsin is off today ahead of a six-game road series against the South Bend Cubs, which starts tomorrow (August 1st).
