As anticipated, Milwaukee County has approved a sales tax increase.
County supervisors voted decisively Thursday in favor of raising the county’s sales tax by 0.4 percent, effectively nearly doubling it to just under one percent.
The proposal received approval under the new shared revenue plan introduced by state lawmakers.
County Executive David Crowley expressed his enthusiasm for the tax hike, emphasizing that it will enable the county to sustain funding for essential services such as parks, senior services, and public transportation.
