A day after being found guilty of the killing of Shad Thyrion, the jury decided to reject Taylor Schabusiness’ insanity plea.
She had been found guilty on charges of First Degree Intentional Homicide, Mutilation of a Corpse, and Third Degree Sexual Assault on Wednesday, in a decision that took about half an hour.
The insanity plea deliberation took a bit longer as the eight women and four men who made up the jury took about an hour to make their ruling.
Schabusiness’ father took the stand, noting that he had been concerned about her “state of mind” for quite some time.
However, Schabusiness also had several competency examinations leading up to the trial, and each time it was determined she was able to aid in her own defense and understand the court proceedings.
