A 45-year-old Green Bay man suffered potentially life-threatening injuries early Monday morning when he was stabbed.
The Green Bay Police Department reports that officers were called to the St. John’s Homeless Shelter at around 4:00 a.m. and found the man who had been stabbed near South Madison and Crooks Streets.
The suspect had fled the scene but was located about nine blocks away in the 300 block of North Van Buren Street.
His name has not been released.
Witnesses reported seeing the victim and the 23-year-old male suspect arguing at St. John’s Park prior to the attack.
The park is known to be a popular place for people experiencing homelessness to congregate, particularly at night, however, it is not clear if either man was sleeping in the park.
As the two men knew each other prior to the attack, investigators say the stabbing was not random, but rather a targeted attack.
Anyone with any additional information is encouraged to call the Green Bay Police Department at 920-448-3200, or Crime Stoppers at 920-432-7867.
