The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers appeared to be turning a corner at the start of their series in Dayton Ohio last week, but with their 6-5 loss to the Dragons Sunday night, the Appleton based ball-club are now on a 3-game losing streak.
The teams had battled to a four-all tie entering the 9th inning when the Rattlers struck and plated a run, leaving it up to Tanner Shears to close out the series.
Shears would give up two hits, two walks, had two errors behind him, and would allow two runs to score as Dayton would come from behind and win.
Stivin Cruz had the start and gave up the other four runs through three innings, however, Sam Gardner and Shane Smith played well in the middle five innings, allowing only three baserunners between them.
Offensively, no Wisconsin batter had more than one hit, however, Darrien Miller, Ben Metzinger, and Je’Von Ward would each hit home runs.
The Rattlers will take today off before starting a six-game home series against the West Division Leading Cedar Rapids Kernels on Tuesday.
