Did you know that by having a Library Card you have access to thousands of free eBooks, Audiobooks, and Magazines? They are all available to you through Libby, the online reading app. Download the free app to your reading device, sign in with your Library Card, and you are ready to enjoy eBooks. If you are interested in learning how to use Libby, come to Manitowoc Public Library on Monday, August 7, for a demonstration and hands-on assistance with the Libby app.
Our staff will guide you through downloading the app, show you how to borrow digital materials, and answer any questions that you have about the service. Libby works on most smart phones, Kindles, iPads, and many other popular reading devices. Bring along your favorite reading device and our staff will work with you to set-up Libby.
There is so much you can do with Libby. Download eBooks to your device and take them with you everywhere you go. Stop paying monthly magazine subscriptions and start reading them digitally on Libby for free! No more lost or scratched discs—just use Libby for all your audiobook needs. Not only is everything free on Libby, but because your items are returned automatically, there are never any late fees! New titles, older titles, nonfiction, kids’ books, science fiction, romance, every genre is available on Libby. There is something for everyone!
All ages are welcome to attend this Libby class and no registration is required. This demonstration will provide the perfect foundation for those new to Libby, while also offering some helpful tips of which more experienced users might not be aware.
Please bring your library card and preferred reading device (smart phone, Kindle, etc.). Have your passwords ready. Apple users will need their Apple ID and password. Kindle users will need their Amazon login and password.
Libby was created by the same company that made the original Overdrive app. They kept what worked, fixed what didn’t, and added some new features to make an entirely new user-friendly app.
Our staff will also introduce you to the new Manitowoc Calumet Library System app (MCLS_WI). This app allows you to manage your Library Card right from your smart phone. You can use the app to place holds on physical materials, renew items, and it even has a digital copy of your library card, so you’ll always have it with you.
Come to Manitowoc Public Library on Monday, August 7, at 10 AM to learn about the free digital options available to you as a library user. Libby is perfect for vacations (no heavy books to pack!), is fantastic for listening to audiobooks in the car, and saves you money on popular magazines and books (they’re all free!).
