The Manitowoc American Legion baseball team is now one win away from a return to the state tournament.
Manitowoc toppled Bay Port 12-3 at Municipal Field on the back of a 14-hit offensive performance.
Coach Kevin Stangel tells us that Tate Hartlaub led the attack going 3-5 and knocking in 3 runs, while Zander Popp went 3-4 and also had an RBI.
Dan Schmitz and Evander Kummer each had two hits, while four other batters had at least one hit.
On the mound, it was a complete game three-hit performance by Eyan Dessellier, who only walked 1 batter and struck out 12.
The two teams will battle again today in the double-elimination regional tournament.
Manitowoc just needs to win one of two potential games today in order to advance to the state tournament.
Game one is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. at Municipal Field in Manitowoc, and game two, if necessary, will be played at 7:30 p.m.
