Months after the devastating condo explosion in southwest Madison earlier this year, investigators remain baffled as they continue their painstaking efforts to determine the exact cause behind the tragic incident.
The Madison Fire Department has recently provided an update on their investigation, shedding some light on the challenges they faced while exploring the scene.
Due to safety concerns, investigators were unable to fully excavate the condo’s garage, leaving a critical part of the puzzle unresolved.
This incomplete examination has hindered their ability to draw definitive conclusions about the explosion’s origin and the factors that led to such a catastrophic event.
During their meticulous search, investigators did make a notable discovery – a propane tank with its valve open, connected to a grill with one of its burners left on.
However, despite this finding, they are cautious not to jump to conclusions prematurely.
They acknowledge that while this discovery is significant, it alone cannot serve as conclusive evidence of the cause of the explosion that occurred in May.
