GOP lawmakers in Madison have reintroduced a bill that would require student-athletes to participate on teams that correspond to their biological sex.
The bill, known as the Save Women’s Sports Act, did not succeed in passing last year.
Representative Barbara Dittrich, a Republican, asserts that the bill aims to safeguard women’s sports from potential loss due to the inclusion of biological males.
However, Democratic lawmakers opposing the measure argue that it could exacerbate bullying and exclusion for transgender youth.
