A Manitowoc woman has been convicted on a child neglect charge.
25-year-old Samantha Jordan was found guilty due to a no-contest plea on a charge of Chronic Child Neglect Causing Great Bodily Harm.
Jordan and her Grandmother Kristine were arrested in January of 2022 after police were called to Aurora Medical Center on a report of a malnourished infant.
Samantha and Kristine were both caring for the infant, whom they said was not consuming enough formula.
Tests on both the infant and Samantha came back positive for cocaine.
The child was taken to Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee and was given a slim chance of survival.
While no official update has been given on the infant, the fact that the charge against both women states “great bodily harm” indicates that the child did survive.
Samantha is due back in court for sentencing in October, and Kristine has a plea hearing scheduled for today.
