The Lighthouse Recovery Community Center is hosting a new event this weekend.
The local drug and alcohol recovery group will be at Newton’s Fireman’s Park for the 1st Annual Serving to Remember Volleyball Tournament.
Christma Rusch, the Executive Director of Lighthouse tells us they have been using volleyball as a recovery pathway for many in our community.
She also said, “We lost some amazing people over this past year. Some of these individuals were on the volleyball court with us weekly, for years. Serving to Remember is our first volleyball tournament fundraiser to honor those we have lost from the disease.”
The alcohol-free event will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the park located at 6103 Newton Road in Newton.
The top team will earn $1,000, second place gets $500.
There will also be food, refreshments, raffles, merchandise, and an auction.
