Ida E. Slager, age 96, of Manitowoc formerly of Kellnersville, passed away early Friday morning, July 7, 2023 at River Woods Place in Manitowoc.
Ida was born on July 27, 1926 in the town of Franklin, daughter of the late Henry and Agnes (Dvorak) Yohanek. She attended local schools. On September 16, 1947 Ida married Robert Slager at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kellnersville. He preceded her in death on June 23, 2014. The couple farmed in the town of Franklin until their retirement moving to Kellnersville in 2009. Ida moved to Manitowoc in 2020. She worked as a waitress and cook at Kubsch’s and Weber’s Restaurants in Kellnersville for many years. Ida enjoyed old time music, making kolaches, dinner rolls, poppy seed torte, bingo and her many card clubs. She was a life member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joseph Rosary Society, Disabled American Veteran Auxiliary Post #24 of Manitowoc-Two Rivers, Kubale-O’Connell VFW Post #6179 Auxiliary of Kellnersville, Gosz-Novak American Legion Post #199 Auxiliary of Reedsville, WFLA Lodge #221 of Menchalville and the Whitelaw Senior Citizens.
Survivors include her daughter: Irene Dvorachek New Holstein; one daughter-in-law and her husband: Carol (Paul) Schwan, Menchalville; six grandchildren: Cindy (Pat) Rowland, Chilton, Kevin (Boni) Dvorachek, Kaukauna, Amy (Doug) Samens, Fond du Lac, Julie Neuser, Manitowoc, Sarah (Jim) Neuser, Menchalville, Katie (Jason) Baroun, Menchalville; twelve great-grandchildren: Hunter and Connor Rowland, Colten Dvorachek, Summer and William Samens, Arianna, Robert and Timothy Neuser, Laney and Alyssa Neuser, Russell and Kenzie Baroun, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Henry and Agnes Yohanek; her husband: Robert Slager; one son: Russell Slager; one son-in-law: Jerry Dvorachek; one grandson-in-law: Joe Neuser; two sisters and one brother-in-law: Helen Yohanek, Florence (William) Decker; two sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law: Molly (Quirin) Opichka, Vi Stetson, Raymond Petska, Arlin Stetson; one nephew: Allen Petska.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 522 Tower Avenue, Kellnersville. The Rev. Santiago Turiano Jr. will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with burial of her cremated remains to take place in the parish cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends on Thursday at the church from 9:30 AM until the time of Mass at 11:00 AM.
