An officer with the Manitowoc Police Department suffered undisclosed injuries over the weekend as he took a man into custody.
Officers were sent to the scene of a family trouble complaint just before 5:00 a.m. Saturday after a caller told dispatch she believed she was in danger.
When officers arrived, they located the 29-year-old man on the sidewalk.
The man was placed in handcuffs so the officers could speak with him and the victim, but the man was verbally abusive toward the officers.
The man struggled against the officers, resulting in them all falling to the ground. One of the officers on the scene reported suffering injuries, the nature of which was redacted from the police report.
The man was eventually loaded into a squad car and taken to the Manitowoc County Jail on charges of Criminal Damage to Property, Disorderly Conduct with a Domestic Violence Enhancer, and Resisting an Officer Causing Soft Tissue Injury.
The victim told officers that the suspect, whom she had previously had a relationship with, had punched a hole in a wall in her residence and kicked another hole in a wall during an argument.
