The Wisconsin Department of Health Services revealed four organizations, including the N.E.W Community Clinic in Green Bay, are receiving funding to help providers serve communities that have limited access to behavioral health care.
The organizations have received $85,762 in one-time grants as part of ongoing efforts to improve health equity and access.
Governor Evers called 2023 the Year of Mental Health, and after these grants, the DHS has invested more than $1.3 million this year across projects to make Wisconsin’s behavioral health care system more inclusive and accessible.
The N.E.W. Clinic in Green Bay received the grant to create a training series for clinic staff with will focus on how to better support Black, Indigenous, and people of color, as well as those experiencing homelessness.
This grant was also awarded to the Dane County Department of Human Services in Madison, Employment Resources in Madison, and Wisconsin Community Services in Milwaukee.
