It was a busy Independence Day in Green Bay, and not just with all the activities.
The Green Bay Police Department reports that they were called to 99 fireworks-related incidents, with the Fire Department assisting on 73 of them.
Chief Chris Davis explained that despite the large number of calls, one citation was issued, along with six written warnings.
A majority of the calls were for people shooting off fireworks that they were unaware were illegal.
That being said, nine fires were started and four people were injured, one of whom was a juvenile.
Additionally, all of the fireworks vendors that were checked for sales compliance and permits passed their inspections.
