The national Starbucks employees’ “Strike with Pride” protest made it’s way to Madison.
The strike is a demonstration organized by Starbucks employees in response to their stores being instructed to take down Pride Month decorations.
The rally took place at the Dane County Farmers Market, where local Starbucks employees gathered to voice their concerns.
According to the protesting workers, they were given inconsistent reasons for the order to remove the Pride Month decorations.
It seems that the employees were frustrated by the sudden change in the company’s stance, as one employee mentioned that this was the first time in the six years he had worked at the Capitol Square Starbucks that the company took issue with Pride decorations.
The employees’ decision to stage a rally and participate in the “Strike with Pride” protest indicates their desire to express solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community and advocate for inclusion and acceptance within their workplace.
