Within 24 hours, the 2023-2025 Wisconsin State Budget went from a proposal, to on its way to Governor Tony Evers’ desk for final approval.
The Senate passed it on Wednesday, with our area Senators, Devin LeMahieu and Andre Jacque, voting for it, and yesterday, it was passed in the Assembly.
Among the 63 votes for it was Representative Paul Tittl, who tells Seehafer News that he is very happy with the $4 billion tax cut.
The Manitowoc Assemblyman tells us that equates to the average taxpayer saving “$537 on their income taxes, and we held the line on property taxes.”
He also touted the increase in education spending, which rose by over $1 billion.
Tittl said the budget was really about “investing in our future.”
“We put $50 million for bringing students up to reading grade level,” he explained. “We also put an extra $30 million for mental health initiatives to deliver services to our students right there in their schools.”
Governor Evers has until the end of the day to sign or veto the budget, as it is supposed to span from Saturday through June 30th, 2025.
