An Oshkosh man is recovering in a local hospital following an officer-involved shooting Thursday morning.
Officers were called to the boat launch on Mill Street at around 6:15 a.m. on a report of an intoxicated man carrying a loaded rifle.
The responding officers reported that they attempted to get the man to put the rifle down, but he refused to comply.
They then used less-than-lethal rounds in an attempt to subdue the man, but he responded by raising the rifle, and pointing it at the officers.
It was then that an officer fired his rifle, striking the man once. He is being treated at a local hospital and is expected to recover.
The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office has been called in to conduct an investigation, as is state law.
It is not clear if the man shot will be facing any charges.
