In Madison, public health officials advise using face masks to combat the current haze and smoke.
Public Health Madison & Dane County urged people to wear masks Tuesday in an effort to combat the bad air quality brought on by the Canadian wildfires.
Janel Heinrich from PHMDC added that people should keep their windows closed and, if necessary, stay inside.
She advised those without air conditioning to visit a cool location, such as their neighborhood library.
The mask advice from PHMDC is just that—advice. Nothing is required or mandated.
