Rev. Eugene Charles Kitzerow, age 96, a resident of Elm Grove, and formerly of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at Heritage Senior Living in Elm Grove.
Eugene was born on January 9, 1927, in Cato WI to Reinhard and Frieda (Haese) Kitzerow. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John-St. James Ev. Lutheran Church in Reedsville WI. Eugene was further educated at Northwestern Preparatory School, Northwestern College, and Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary. Pastor Kitzerow was a Wisconsin Synod Evangelical Lutheran pastor for 42 years and had served at parishes in Beaver Dam WI, Colome SD, Crivitz and Pound WI, Big Bend WI, and Woodland WI.
On June 15, 1952, Eugene married Renata Pape at First German Ev. Lutheran Church in Manitowoc. After 66 years of marriage, Renata preceded Eugene in death on September 24, 2018. Having grown up on a farm, Eugene enjoyed doing woodworking and handyman projects. During his retirement, Eugene worked as a custodian at Bank First National in Manitowoc for thirteen years.
Survivors include Eugene’s children, Ruth (Roy) Breiling, Doris (Brian) Rindfleisch, Mark (Jayne) Kitzerow, and Lynn (Keith) Petersen; daughter-in-law, Kathryn Kitzerow; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Renata; son, Robert; sister, Ruth Kozaczuk; and brother-in-law, Edward Kozaczuk.
