Manitowoc County Human Services is looking for foster parents.
In Wisconsin, there are over 6,000 children in out-of-home care, and the number has significantly increased in the past several years primarily due to drug use and abuse.
Human Services works to place children with individuals they are related to or have a connection with.
If there is no support identified, they will then be placed in a foster home, group home, or treatment foster home.
When placed into a foster home, the foster parent works closely with social workers to meet the child’s needs.
The goal is to have the child reunified with their parent when it is safe.
Individuals aged 21 and older can begin the application process to become licensed foster parents.
Foster parents can receive both financial support and help from an Out of Home Support Worker to help with the transition.
You can rent or own a home or have an apartment to be a foster parent.
Single people and couples are encouraged to apply.
To learn more, contact the Manitowoc County Human Services Department at 920-683-4230 and ask for a member of the Foster Care Team.
